Aimpoint® Comp series explained
The Aimpoint® Comp series of sights are soldier-tested, combat-proven, and widely touted by professional users as the highest quality red dot optic available. For over 20 years, the U.S. Armed Forces has chosen the Comp series as the M68CCO Close Combat Optic. Over 1.5 million Comp sights are in use worldwide, many of those employed by the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force.
The battery life of the Comp series is measured in YEARS. Aimpoint pioneered ACET (Advanced Circuit Efficiency Technology) diode circuitry which dramatically decreases battery consumption – prolonging battery life substantially. Models of the Comp Series red dot sights can achieve 5 to 8 years of constant-on use with one battery.
Aimpoint red dot sights are operationally parallax-free, which means the visible dot remains parallel to the bore of your weapon no matter what angle your eye is in relation to the sight. Therefore, the user never has to worry about centering the dot inside the sight. If you have a proper zero, when the dot is on the target, so are you. Aimpoint optics increase confidence by allowing the shooter to focus on the target while keeping both eyes open, fully situationally aware at all times. Users can achieve first round hits faster with greater confidence.
Aimpoint sights are subjected to brutal testing, including exposure to extreme heat, cold, physical abuse, and submersion under water. From arctic temperatures to desert sand, the ruggedness of Aimpoint red dot sights stand up to any challenge. Aimpoint red dot sights are trusted by hunters, sport shooters, military, and law enforcement officers around the world. Over 2 million sights have been supplied to the United States military since 1997. Today, Aimpoint is recognized globally as the most rugged, reliable, and efficient electronic sighting system in the world. When your life depends on your equipment, don’t settle for anything less.
Aimpoint® CompM4 Series
The Aimpoint® CompM4 series of sights consists of the CompM4™ and CompM4s™ red dot optics. These sights are built for the harshest environments imaginable. Battle tested and combat proven; the Comp series was adopted in 1997 by the U.S. Armed Forces as the M68CCO Close Combat Optic. The CompM4 series are fully submersible up to 150 feet and compatible with Aimpoint 3X magnifiers and all generations of night vision devices. The CompM4 has a high battery compart and the CompM4s has a low battery compartment. Both optics are powered by a single AA-battery and can be left constantly-on for over 8 years of continuous use in the daylight settings and over 10 years in the night vision settings. These sights have a 2 MOA (minute of angle) red dot that is highly visible in all conditions, allowing for fast target acquisition. The standard configuration includes the QRP2 Mount and rubber bikini lens cover. Additional accessories such as the KillFlash® ARD (Anti Reflection Device) and solid or transparent lens covers are available separately.
Aimpoint® CompM5 Series
The Aimpoint® CompM5 series of sights are the latest member of the Comp Series. The CompM5 series combines Aimpoint’s combat proven design of the full size CompM4 series into a compact package. The CompM5 series of red dot sights takes up minimal space on the weapon platform without sacrificing durability, reliability, or efficiency. These optics are powered by a single AAA battery, providing over 5 years of constant-on use in the daylight settings and over 10 years in the night vision settings. The CompM5 has a top-mounted battery compartment while the CompM5s™ has a low battery compartment.
The newest in the Aimpoint CompM5 series is the Aimpoint CompM5b™ - a ballistically compensating red dot optic. This revolutionary sight allows the user to quickly adjust the position of the reticle to compensate for ballistic drop according to wind conditions and the distance to the target. It comes with interchangeable turrets adapted for various calibers and can be customized depending on the user’s needs and weapon profile.
The CompM5 series are fully submersible up to 150 feet and compatible with Aimpoint 3X and 6X magnifiers and all generations of night vision devices. These sights have a 2 MOA (minute of angle) red dot that is highly visible in all conditions, allowing for fast target acquisition. The sight standard configuration for the CompM5 series includes an LRP (lever release picatinny) mount base, a spacer (equaling either 30 mm or 39 mm height over bore), and lens covers. The front lens cover is solid and rear is transparent, allowing the user to see the dot through an occluded optic in an emergency situation.
