Tip Tuesday: “WHY CHOOSE A RED DOT SIGHT” with Director of Training Duane “Buck” Buckner
Discover the less obvious reasons to choose a red dot sight for your rifle or pistol. In this video, Director of Training Duane “Buck” Buckner delves into some of the physiological and biological contexts for how incorporating this tool into your process can result in a more efficient (cognitively and physically) outcome. He discusses the details of three of the most influential modifiers:
Vision- We don’t see the way we think we do. Some things (iron sights) require a great deal more effort. Red dot sights are designed to be seen with less cognitive “work.”
Stress- Almost nothing else affects us as profoundly as stress. Our abilities can “atrophy” to an almost unrecognizable point. Simplicity is more than a preferred method when this happens…it is essential.
Skill- Developing the ability to do something well (skill) is a complex mixture of biological processes in concert with good tools and a dedicated mindset. Efficiency must be present in every aspect to emerge with anything resembling mastery…even the tools.
In summary, Red dots sights are designed to work with your biology in a way that it recognizes, when you need it the most…and this is why.
