TIP TUESDAY: "PLAY IN THE SWITCH" WITH JOHN ENLOE
Technical Support Manager at Aimpoint, John Enloe, has a quick FAQ addressing the issue of excessive play or slop in the switch on M4 and M5 series sights, a common customer inquiry.
In the M4 series sight, Aimpoint has implemented a design where the power knob is clutched to the electronics package and then bolted to the body. Unlike legacy systems, where the power knob was directly bolted to the electronics package. This design choice allows any impact on the power switch to be diffused into the body rather than directly affecting the electronics package, resulting in a more robust switch. The M5 series sights utilize a miniaturized version of this design.
